On Monday, May 12, 2008, The Libertarian party of West Virginia hosted its annual Libertarian State Convention, a gathering of fellow Libertarians in West Virginia. Following the event, a straw poll was held of the Libertarians in the crowd. Senator Gravel narrowly won the vote, beating out Dr. Mary Ruwart. Below are the results:

• Senator Mike Gravel – 5 votes
• Dr. Mary Ruwart – 4 votes
• Steve Kubby – 1 vote
• Jim Burns – 1 vote
• Christine Smith – 1 vote

Now, the State Conventions are all over, and it is time to turn out attention to Denver, Colorado, the home of the 2008 Libertarian National Convention. It all happens on the convention floor, and Senator Gravel is ready to lead!
