In the last six weeks, nearly 600,000 people have visited this site. Every day I receive emails and letters from people from all over our country who are distressed over the war in Iraq and frustrated with our lack of leadership in Washington.

The government is not listening to the will of the American people. In the latest Gallup poll (Jan 17) 62% of those polled believe that the situation in Iraq was not worth going to war over. It is not enough for congress to merely voice opposition to the ‘surge’ of over 20,000 new troops, nor is it enough to threaten to withhold funding or pass non binding, symbolic resolutions. We must demand an end to this war now – not 6 or 12 or 24 months from now. We must stand up and speak out in our homes and schools, churches and synagogues, in newspapers and on television. In the city streets in towns all across America, we cannot stay silent in the face of such a tragedy.

In America 1 in 3 high school students drops out of high school, and 46 million Americans have no health insurance, while hundreds of billions of our dollars flow to the coffers of George Bush’s corporate allies in Iraq. Meanwhile the war drags on and on and the death toll of our men and women in uniform and Iraqi civilians rises daily. These numbers represent an indictment of our government.

We must restore morality to our government. We must reject institutionalized torture and the loss of our civil liberties. The solution lies with you; the voter. Take back your country. Take back your future and the future of our children. Elect a President who will pursue cooperative diplomacy and defend the honor of our great nation – a President who will work with you to restore our country to a land of opportunity and fairness.

Together we can heal these war wounds and live in peace and prosperity.
